If you want to celebrate Easter at the White House, then hop to it: The lottery for tickets to the annual Easter egg roll opens Friday morning.
The egg roll is a Washington tradition that dates back to 1878. What started as local children pushing eggs around the South Lawn has turned into a huge spring celebration with the president welcoming the Easter Bunny, celebrities and hundreds of families to the White House for not just egg rolling, but also entertainment, sports and interactive cooking demonstrations. This year’s White House Egg Roll is April 21.
The 2014 lottery opens Friday, March 7 at 10 a.m. Deadline for entries is Monday, March 10 at 10 a.m. It’s free to register, and lucky winners receive their tickets at no charge. The event is open to children 13 and younger. Winners will be announced March 21.
