The forecast didn’t bring a blizzard, but Hearth! the herald angels delivered a December snow day: the perfect excuse to telework (or tackle some online Christmas shopping) by a fire. Here are three of the city’s coziest fireplaces:

1. Tabard Inn – Dupont
Deep couches, a specialty cocktail menu and a casual lounge where your wet wellies will quickly dry in front of a wood-burning fire are what you’ll find in this historic Washington hotel.

2. La Chaumiere – Georgetown

3. Murphy’s Pub – Alexandria
