The U.S. Navy’s internal information technology system faces approximately 110,000 cyber attacks every hour, an HP executive said.

The company, who managed the Navy Marine Corps Intranet and its transition to a Next Generation Enterprise Network, said that equates to 1,833 attacks per minute or 30 per second.

Mike Nefkens, head of enterprise services at HP, said the network supports 800,000 Navy employees in 2,000 locations around the world.

“HP is having to guard against increasing numbers of cyber attacks, in its role providing these systems,” Nefkens said earlier this month at HP’s Discover event in Germany.
