The tech industry was drawn into the immigration reform debate yesterday, with the launch of the first of a series of Organizing for Action videos.
OFA’s first video features Faizan Buzdar, founder of Convo.com, detailing his struggle to move his business to Silicon Valley. A Pakistani native, Buzdar describes why tech startups are important for the U.S. economy, the labor market and innovation in general. He argues the visa system is restrictive and current immigration legislation may hinder entrepreneurs from moving their business to the U.S.
President Barack Obama’s nonprofit is using the video series to marshal public support for comprehensive immigration reform. The series will demonstrate the problems associated with current immigration legislation, by telling the stories of those most affected by it.
