Kristen Honey

Senior Policy Analyst, White House Office of Management and Budget

In her policy work at the Office of Management and Budget, Kristen Honey is passionate about open data and data-driven innovation, but she told FedScoop that when a job is so focused on science and technology, it is important not to lose sight of what’s behind the systems, interfaces and numbers. “Embrace the human dimensions,” said Honey, who has a strong science background, including a Ph.D. in ecology and evolutionary biology. “Transformative change and lasting impact happen because of people ― beyond the numbers, data, and tech. To quote Dr. Brené Brown, ‘Stories are data with a soul.’ Always remember the soul of your tech work, for example, how the future of data science must include data ethics.”
