If you plan to dine at Le Diplomate this summer, make sure to do so alfresco. The Logan Circle bistro is the only Washington restaurant to rank on OpenTable’s Top 100 Outdoor Dining Spots.

The popular reservation site revealed its list May 21 after compiling reviews from more than 5 million diners across the country. California and Hawaii restaurants lead the U.S. in best patio space. However, the outdoor cafe where diners can enjoy a meal “en plein air,” the view of city sidewalks, and D.C.-people watching earns Le Diplomate a slot on the roster.

“At the winning restaurants, alfresco dining is a true celebration of time and place,” says Caroline Potter, OpenTable chief dining officer. “With the emphasis on fresh, local ingredients that complement the vibrant outdoor ambiance at these eateries, diners feel as though they’ve got the best seat in the house to appreciate the season.”
