DHS conducting market research for cloud-based vulnerability disclosure platform

The Department of Homeland Security is looking to launch a shared platform for agencies to run vulnerability disclosure programs. The department's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) issued a request for information recently via the General Services Administration to identify potential vendors who can provide “a software-as-a-service web application that serves as the primary point of entry for vulnerability reporters to alert the government of potential issues on federal information systems for those agencies that participate in the platform.” Billy Mitchell has more.

Pentagon’s JAIC needs industry help for humanitarian assistance, disaster relief

The Pentagon is also doing some market research. Its Joint Artificial Intelligence Center issued an RFI searching for existing AI and emerging technologies to enable the JAIC’s national mission initiative for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, namely through drone-based search and rescue missions during events like wildfires, hurricanes and floods. “The Government desires an end-state environment where human-resources are not required to constantly watch the sensor, but they can be cued to respond when something of interest is identified,” the RFI says. Inside Palantir’s support of the Army’s massive data problem

Palantir recently scored a $110 million prototype contract to support a massive integration of data among the Army’s far-reaching and disparate systems. But as leaders of Palantir and the Army would tell you, the project is about much more than that — it’s the start of work that will transform the way the Army thinks about, integrates and uses its data. “The problem for Army’s leaders and commanders at every level is you’re trying to make decisions off of accurate data but the data is stored in so many places, it’s often very hard to figure out what’s going on,” said Palantir’s Doug Philippone, lead of global defense. Billy has more on the project.

How to help Gen Z enter the federal workforce — safely and securely

In this Op-Ed, HP's Todd Gustafson explains how the federal government can better attract the budding Gen Z workforce. The challenge is that Generation Z is the first truly digital-native generation, having always grown up with computers and the internet. With them comes a new set of expectations — like the freedom to use personal devices and having 24/7 access to corporate networks. This poses a number of different considerations for IT departments, especially in government agencies. So, the federal government must rethink and evolve cybersecurity protocols to suit the needs of the workforce’s newest and most tech-savvy recruits. Read what Gustafson has to say.
