CMMC board walks back questionable "partner program"

The accreditation body implementing the Department of Defense‘s new contractor cybersecurity standards has hit yet another bump in the road. Over the weekend, the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Accreditation Body launched a “Partner Program” that many quickly called out as a pay-to-play scheme. The CMMC-AB quickly took down information about the program, but not before many people caught it, including DOD officials. New Federal Data Strategy documents

The Trump administration recently issued a set of draft documents that will help guide agencies in developing functional roles that deal with data and helping guide those leaders in how to manage and use that data ethically. Wednesday at Informatica's Data in Action Summit, Deputy Federal CIO Maria Roat detailed the release of a curated data skills catalog and a data ethics framework, both of which are for public comment. The skills catalog is meant to "help agencies develop competencies for managing data as a strategic asset and making data-driven decisions,” she said, while the ethics framework will help "guide the ethical management and the use of data throughout the entire data lifecycle, from creation all the way through the use of it, and ongoing.” Billy Mitchell has more from the data strategy.
