USDS wants to fix the ‘black hole’ USAJOBS with alternative hiring assessment

It's one of the most common refrains heard around federal agencies in Washington: Hiring talented, qualified personnel is too hard and takes too long. USDS, however, wants to fix the "black hole" that is USAJOBS by using an alternative, underused hiring assessment, according to "bureaucracy hacker" Stephanie Grosser. The White House's digital swat team held pilots with HHS and the National Park Service replacing USAJOBS's standard self-assessment model with a pass-fail assessment of IT job applicants against job requirements. As a result, both agencies filled their job openings much more quickly. Dave Nyczepir has more on the USDS pilots.
