Murphy commits to "peaceful transition" to Biden

General Services Administrator Emily Murphy asked for the resignation of all of the agency’s political appointees by Jan. 20 to “demonstrate GSA’s commitment to a peaceful transition of power.” Murphy and other senior GSA leaders made the request Wednesday night before announcing it to all GSA personnel during a virtual townhall Thursday. During the townhall, according to a spokesperson, Murphy “stated that she was appalled and deeply saddened by the violence that occurred" when a politically charged mob, at the incitement of President Trump, entered the U.S. Capitol the day prior. Pentagon's CMO role is no more

With the enactment of the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the Department of Defense's chief management officer role has been disbanded. Now former-Chief Management Officer Lisa Hershman will stay on as a senior adviser to acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller. The NDAA instructed the Pentagon to divest the responsibilities of the CMO’s office across the Pentagon. Jackson Barnett has the news.


CISA's latest SolarWinds guidance

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency is out with new guidance that orders agencies that ran compromised SolarWinds Orion software to conduct a forensic analysis by the end of the month. That analysis must look at system memory, host storage, network and third-party environments such as cloud services. Agencies must also hunt for indicators of compromise or “other evidence of threat actor activity” and create or update a CISA incident report accordingly. Sara Wilson has the latest guidance.
