The happiest hour at Old Ebbitt Grill happens long before 5 o’clock. The classic Washington restaurant is the only kitchen in the D.C. area to top Urbanspoon’s list of Most Popular Breakfast Spots.

“Breakfast is the perfect meal to celebrate with family,” said Patrick O’Donnell, co-founder of Urbanspoon. “Our list gives diners inspiration across 31 states and 60 cities for the most important meal of the day.”

Some important foodies – food critics, bloggers and Urbanspoon diners – created this breakfast club, which is made mostly of diners and cheap eats. Florida has the most menus mentioned, followed by Texas and California. Blue Moon Cafe in Baltimore is also on the list.

Old Ebbitt Grill serves a full breakfast menu weekdays from 7:30 – 11 a.m. Weekend brunch begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday and is offered until 4 p.m.
