You won’t need a passport to take a trip around the world this weekend: The annual European Union Embassies’ Open House kicks off Saturday morning.

When EU embassies open doors to visitors, the culturally curious will get a rare peek at the architecture, decor and grounds of some of the most popular diplomatic outposts. Food is served, music is played, wine is poured. There will even be free souvenirs!

When: Saturday, May 13, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Where: The EU embassies are all located in Northwest Washington. Free shuttle buses will carry guests from points around the city. Click here to plan your trip.

What to pack:  Anyone 16 and older will need a photo ID.

Tips from veteran travelers: Britain has the best swag bag. It is worth the long lines to visit Spain and Ireland. The most breathtaking architecture is in Finland. And if you’re hungry? Obviously.
