Donald Trump jetted into Washington this morning with children Don Jr., Ivanka and Eric to reveal plans for Trump International Washingnton, D.C., at the Old Post Office.

The $200 million redevelopment will turn the Washington landmark into a luxury hotel with 270 guest rooms, restaurants, shopping, meeting space and a 4,000-square-foot Mar-a-Lago Spa by Ivanka Trump.

“The building itself, which is totally irreplaceable, is going to be brought back to far beyond its original grandeur,” Donald Trump says about the property. “It will be a building of which our whole nation will be very proud!”

Construction on the site will begin in the spring of 2014.  The design will give nod to America’s European heritage and its references to Romanesque elements. The hotel’s lobby will be furnished in rich jewel tones — deep red, aubergine, sapphire and emerald — with gold accents, a water sculpture and soaring brass and crystal chandeliers.

Guest rooms will feature art that tells the story of the building’s history. When complete, the Old Post Office will house this city’s largest ballroom.

“This project is about the past meeting the future in a seamless pairing that will result in a level of luxury previously unseen in this market,” explains Ivanka Trump. “Our design draws on the legacy and integrity of this great landmark, but it is executed in a thoroughly modern way.”

The Trump family was joined by D.C. congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, Mayor Vincent Gray and Commissioner of the Public Buildings Service for the General Services Administration Dorothy Robyn.

Construction is expected to be complete by the end of 2015.
