Chilly March weather has delayed tree budding, but the 2013 National Cherry Blossom Festival is officially in bloom. Festivities began Wednesday night with the annual Pink Tie Party at the Renaissance Hotel where pastel-clad guests sampled specialty cherry dishes and seasonal cocktails made by host Chef Lorena Garcia and dozens of D.C. restaurants.
During the next weeks, the festival will showcase performances, exhibits and other special events across the city. To ensure no one misses a moment, festival organizers have created an free app that answers every questions one might have about the celebration except for how to avoid tourist traffic.
