More convenience is moving into the suburbs. Alamo Drafthouse, the place Travel + Leisure calls “the world’s coolest movie theater” is set to set to open this spring in Ashburn, Va., bringing dinner and a movie all under one roof. Theater owners believe the unique experience will be worth the drive even for people who live in the city.
“We pride ourselves on bringing back what’s fun about going to the movies,” said Anthony Coco, President of Alamo Drafthouse One Loudoun. “Our concept was created by movie lovers, for movie lovers, and we’re excited for Loudoun County and the Washington region to finally experience what makes the Alamo different.”
With tables built into traditional theater seats, movie goers can order food from a menu that includes burgers, pizza and salads. Food and drink service is available throughout the entire movie with a note passing system mastered by the wait staff to avoid making anyone a movie talker. There’s also a zero tolerance policy for texting.
Alamo will show new releases, indie films and old Hollywood classics, sometimes even creating a theme menu based on the featured flick. Showtimes begin May 3.
