With plenty of time to spare before St. Patrick’s Day, Ri Ra Irish Pub begins the week fully open at its new M Street address.

After relocating from Bethesda at the end of 2013, the high-end restaurant and pub opened its opulent whiskey bar this weekend, following a grand re-opening party Thursday night attracting many Washington VIIPs — very important Irish persons.

Gov. Martin O’Malley came from Maryland to join the party, and former Ambassadors Tom Foley and Kevin Moley were also part of the invite-only crowd. Guests were the first to sample from the whiskey bar’s 200 choices of rare labels while snacking on mini cones of fish and chips and lamb skewers.

Ri Ra Georgetown showcases architecture and décor pulled from bars and theaters in Dublin, and welcomes drinkers and diners daily.
