The Transportation Department hired a new CIO, FedScoop has learned.

A DOT official confirmed to FedScoop on Tuesday that Vicki Hildebrand has joined the department as CIO.

Hildebrand replaces former CIO Richard McKinney, who left at the change in administrations in January. DOT Deputy CTO Kristen Baldwin temporarily filled the vacancy as acting CIO.

A decades-long executive with HP, Hildebrand most recently served as vice president of customer and partner advocacy for Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

A recent graduate of Columbia University’s master’s program in technology management, she told a university publication in an interview last year that she was “an aspiring CIO” and stressed the importance of technologists and engineers rounding out their experience with business skills.

Federal News Radio first reported Hildebrand’s hire.
