The Federal Emergency Management Agency launched a redesigned fema.gov Thursday with an emphasis on enhanced search functionality and a responsive web design that adapts to the user’s device.

The new website was developed on the open source platform Drupal using the responsive web design theme Omega. While the site leverages a responsive design approach, mobile users are still directed to the FEMA mobile website, m.fema.gov.

“As we looked at our old site, we realized it was more about who we were and less about what we did,” said FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate. “So we’ve been working to redesign fema.gov to put in information out there for you to use based upon your needs, not based upon what we’ve looked at how we’re organized.”
