DOT Seeks CIO for Office of Secretary

The Department of Transportation is seeking a chief information officer for the Office of the Secretary of Transportation. The job pays between $123,758 to $155,500 and is open for applications until April 2.

The Office of the Secretary (OST) oversees the formulation of National transportation policy and promotes intermodal transportation. Other responsibilities range from negotiation and implementation of international transportation agreements, assuring the fitness of US airlines, enforcing airline consumer protection regulations, issuance of regulations to prevent alcohol and illegal drug misuse in transportation systems and preparing transportation legislation.

As the Chief Information Officer (CIO), this position serves as a key contributor in formulating strategic goals for the organization. The CIO establishes a comprehensive approach to improve the acquisition and management of their information resources, focusing information resource planning to support their strategic missions; implementing a capital planning and investment control process that links to budget formulation and execution, IA W: Clinger Cohen Act 1996. The CIO provides guidance and direction for the integration of business and technology; a key component in transforming OST to the Future Architecture through a rigorous Enterprise Architecture program (i.e. FEA, Zachman, etc.). This position reports directly to the Deputy Chief Information Officer/Department of Transportation (DOT) and is the senior IT Specialist in providing corporate-wide leadership for technology research and development, architecture, and standards for all aspects of OST’s environment.

This position is located in the Department of Transportation (DOT) building, which sits directly across the street from the Navy Yard metro station and blocks away from the Washington National’s Baseball stadium.
