Abrahamson named PNNL CIO

Brian Abrahamson has been named chief information officer at the Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

Abrahamson joined PNNL in 2011 the chief enterprise architect and previously served as CIO and chief architect for Pacific Gas and Electric Company.

He replaces Jerry Johnson, who has served as PNNL CIO since 2004. Johnson will become senior policy and technical advisor to the office of the chief information officer at DOE. The department requested the move to improve its approach to cybersecurity.

“This is a win for DOE, PNNL and all of the national laboratories. DOE is getting a senior advisor with recent, relevant experience in cyber security, and he will help provide solutions that will guide DOE’s future information technology environment,” said PNNL Director Mike Kluse.
